Please join us on Friday, June 24th from 7-10pm for the closing of our screen printed poster exhibit.

We will be doing live screen printing with layers from six different poster designs and you can pick your t-shirt! This is always a really fun time. I mean, when have you ever gotten to choose where to print your own shirt? We're excited to welcome Nebraska artist Nicole Gustafsson to the studio + gallery! We think her illustration and water color work is a must see collection that is both unique and profound.

Nicole Gustafsson was born and raised in Norfolk, Nebraska. Much of her youth was spent playing in the park across the street from her family home. These outdoor adventures helped form Gustafsson's love of nature and fueled her imagination. It is this spirit of discovery and adventure that she conveys in her artwork.

In 2007, Gustafsson received her BA in Studio Art from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. She currently teaches graphic design at Hastings College, and works at Graham Gallery and Framing in Hastings, NE. Her two cats and many, many plants accompany her on her journey.

Benefit Art Auction Closing Show

The last friday of January, which is the 28th, is the night to place your final bids on a large variety of really low priced art! Local artists have rallied together to put together a most eclectic group show. All of the proceeds from said show are to benefit local cancer survivor Jessie Amen.

Good art, great prices, wonderful cause. Bidding starts at 6:30pm and final bids are at 8pm, then the winning bidders can pay up and take the art home!

We hosted a fabulous art exhibit that was organized by Ryan Holt and Jeremie Memming, local artists/designers here in Lincoln. I was hoping to have time to run a series of three boards but ended up only having time to pump out this one and gave the other two to some other artists in town. 38 local artists in total designed 50 skateboards for this exhibit. Ours was basically a play off some mail we received the day I decided to get this board completed. This is a 4-color process print of a photo i took of the capital, then a screen print over the stamp and raw wood of the board. The whole thing was then coated with some random wood seal we found in the shop, couldn't really read what it was . . . a totally spontaneous and fun Saturday project.

Here's a follow up photo to a previous post. This is the second design of three for Nelnet Marketing Group. I didn't actually get to see any of these around town, but oh well. Hopefully they found some interns, which was the intended purpose. We custom mixed three pantone colors with water based ink to run these posters @ 19" x 25".

Here's a sample of some posters we ran for Iron Brush Tattoo. A two color print on a speckletone paper from French papers. This is a 19" x 25" water based silkscreen print. I know, I know, this one has bleeds in the image... we forgot to take shots of the good ones!

We actually ran these before the coffee signs but, whatever. These are the front display pieces for the Arbor Day Foundations line of recycled greeting cards. As with the coffee signs, we used a brown water based ink on natural wood. This creates a really nice burnt wood effect, without any burning...

We printed up some raw wood pieces for the Arbor Day Foundation recently. These will be part of some signage for what seems to be their line of specialty coffee in conjunction with the Rain Forest Rescue Project. Very cool.

We're diving into the world of poster printing. Using a nice water based series of inks we can mix pantone colors to a fairly close proximity and screen print either full color (CMYK) or spot color posters.

Irish Fest

I ran these for a group of guys heading to Kansas City. Presumably Irish and ready for some serious beer consumption. It's pretty simply but effective, a 2 color print on black t's. We allowed the black of the tshirt work inside of the interior to save a bit of cash on this small run of t's.

Here is one of several items we finished for the Young Nebraska Scientists summer camp at the University of Nebraska. These bags were pretty difficult to print as they have an inside lining along with a 7 color design. 7 colors!

This is from a photograph of Alex's graffiti work at the Omaha Jake's Cigar Shop, which I guess now is officially also a bar. Miles Davis on the trumpet, of course. It's basically printed as a duotone photograph with white and blue on black t's.

This is a simple but super cool single color print I put together based on a tshirt design concept complements of Eliot, who now resides in Las Vegas. I actually made a stencil of this skull and wrenches, then spray painted it on a sheet of paper, scanned it and added text.

Artwork provided on this one. Jaime ordered green and yellow t's for this upcoming seminar. The paint strokes were difficult to scan and get the right contrast so as to keep the painted feel, but it turned out pretty great I think.

I need to have Jaime teach me some defense skills.

The Waverly boys did pretty well this year. I am always pleased to do any sort of work relating to the beautiful game of soccer as I love it so much. This was a white and black print on cardinal red tshirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and longsleeves. The black shadowing is pretty subtle but in the right lighting ads a really great effect to the overall print. A two color back was also printed with the team roster.

Monkey Wrench Cycles here in Lincoln has always been a loyal crew. I ran a few different color schemes of an older tshirt design. This was originally printed in silver on black and maybe white on black as well. This time we ran scarlet on yellow, lime on an organic cinder and this custom mixed blue on grass green. All American Apparel Classic Jersey T's.

I finished these up just yesterday for Lincoln Vision Center. Their concept, I just had to do some font searching and a little bit of kerning. I really like this tshirt idea! This ran on a batch of youth small t's for some little Nebraskans who maybe can't see so well without some assistance.

Here's a really great tshirt design by Hoss. I got to work on these shirts for Tomac Bikes here in Lincoln. Hoss always shoots me stellar artwork that's ready to run with minor alterations. This is a three color front print on Heather Black American Apparel 50/50 T's. I really like how these turned out.

I finished up some fun tote bags for Footloose & Fancy recently. Fun design for a cool promotion they had/have going on for Earth Day. Something like when you buy a pair of shoes you get a free tote and if you re-use it, you gain credit, or points, or something. The reward escapes me for some reason. Anyways, I digress. These are really great bags made by a company called Ecobags. They've got an inside pocket, a bottom gusset for support and two handle options. The other side of the bag has a block of text as well (not pictured).

Franmar Chemical has a line of chemicals for cleaning and reclaiming screens that is made from 100% american grown soybeans. With this transformation Screen Ink. has officially "gone green". We're planning a limited run of recycled and organic cotton tshirts and totebags to promote our transition to a more earth friendly small business.
